Child brain injury case study 2
Our client
Our client was a 10-year old child who was out playing with friends early one summer evening. He was well-liked at his school and was progressing well with his education, particularly in the field of mathematics. As with most children of this age he was looking forward to the summer break.
Accident circumstances
During the course of one of the games the children were playing, our client strayed into the road. He was immediately struck by a motorist who was travelling at a significant speed. He suffered a fracture to the front of his skull and sustained a subdural hematoma. This resulted in him suffering from cognitive and spastic quadraplegia.
The other side initially contested liability, but our child brain injury lawyers and specialist investigation department immediately obtained CCTV footage of the accident. Following this we produced a second-by-second reconstruction of the accident which proved the motorist's speed. After this swift investigation liability was admitted by the motorist.
Immediate help from Serious Law
We immediately obtained interim payments on behalf of our client in excess of £100,000. We put in place a full case management team to support our client and his family. We completed a statement of education in conjunction with our client’s school to identify his level of education and future needs. A programme of rehabilitation was compiled and actioned by specialist professionals dedicated to working with those who have sustained this level of injury.
Progress to date
Today, our client has re-entered the education system with a full support programme to help him achieve his goals. He is preparing to take his Maths GCSE, which before we undertook our detailed support regime looked like a distant dream. Our client will remain in education until the age of 19. At this point our care plan will enable him to enter the disabled employment market. Our care worker regime will ensure that with support, he is able to live an independent and fulfilling life.
